PSLE CONTINOUS WRITING COMPOSITIONS

On my twelfth birthday, my grandmother handed me a beautifully wrapped gift box. With a warm smile, she said, “This is something very special. Take good care of it.”

Excited, I untied the ribbon and lifted the lid. Inside was a small silver locket attached to a delicate chain. It did not look expensive, but Grandma's eyes sparkled as she watched me hold it.

“Open it,” she whispered.

I carefully opened the locket and found two tiny photographs inside. One was a picture of my grandparents when they were young, while the other showed my mother as a little girl. Tucked behind the photographs was a small note. It read, “Family is life's greatest treasure.”

Grandma then told me the story behind the locket. It had belonged to my great-grandmother and had been passed down through four generations. Whenever family members faced difficulties, they would look at the photographs and remember that they were never alone.

As I listened, I realised that the locket was far more valuable than any toy or electronic gadget. It carried precious memories, love and family history. I felt honoured that Grandma trusted me to keep it safe.

That evening, I placed the locket in a special box beside several family photographs. Looking at them filled me with warmth and gratitude. The locket was precious not because of its material value, but because it reminded me of the love that connected our family through the years.
