Sorry. I Don’t Have Money

Mr Chua woke up with a startle when he realized that he was very late for work. His alarm clock did not ring as usual and his wife was still sleeping soundly. He leapt out of his bed and rushed to the washroom. Accidentally he knocked his head against the door and almost fainted. After washing his face and brushing his teeth, he put on his shirt hurriedly and then dashed out of his house.

Unknowingly, he forgot to bring along his wallet with all the money and cards in it. Just as he reached a bus-stop nearby,he saw the bus leaving. He ran as fast as he could, hoping that he would be able to catch it. However, when he reached the bus stop, the bus had just sped off. Disappointed, he decided to catch a taxi instead.

However, when he was about to get off the taxi, he was shocked to discover that his wallet was not in his pocket. When the taxi-driver told him of the fare, he shrugged his shoulder, not knowing what to do. He apologized to the taxi-driver by explaining that he had forgotten to bring his wallet along. The taxi-driver was a very understanding man. He agreed to be paid in cheque and Mr Chua could post it to him. Mr Chua was very thankful to him.

When Mr Chua reached his office, he found that he left his briefcase in the taxi. Fortunately, he had written down the taxidriver’s telephone number. He made a call to the taxi-driver at once. How forgetful Mr Chua was!
