Stomachache

It was the middle of the night. I woke up with a terrible pain in my stomach. It felt as if my stomach was tied up in a knot.

“Ouch!” the pain is so unbearable!” I wailed.

I struggled to the bathroom, clutching my stomach tightly.My legs felt like jelly and I was unable to walk steadily. ‘Thumpi’ I feil to the ground with a sickening thud when I stepped on a piece of soap left lying on the bathroom floor. My head was spinning and I was perspiring all over. I felt weak and my legs were shaky. I tried to stand up again but I failed. Finally, I shouted for my parents.

“Ma! Pa! Help me!”

“What’s the matter, darling?” asked my mother.

“My back hurts and my stomach feels terrible,” I replied.Suddenly, I remembered the delicious food which my mother had bought for my supper. I had eaten all before going to bed.The food was actually bought from a roadside hawker who was a chain smoker. The food must have been contaminated. Then, I told my mother about it.

My mother took out a bottle of medicated oil and rubbed my forehead and back vigorously. She also forced me to swallow a pill. After that, I felt much better as the pain slowly subsided.

My mother regretted letting me eat the food from the roadside hawker. From that day onward, we decided not to buy any food from those roadside hawkers again.
