The Day Money Rained From The Sky

One morning, a lady, Joyce, was swinging her handbag on the tenth floor of a high-rise block of flats. She was in high spirits. Suddenly,the handbag slipped out of her hand. She was alarmed. Her handbag contained a thick wad of ten-dollar currency notes, new and crispy. The money was meant for the forthcoming Chinese New Year red packets. She had to distribute the traditional red packets to her friends and relatives.

She screamed for help as the handbag was opened and all the currency notes fell out. They were fluttering in the air and descending rapidly to the ground below. She waved her hand frantically as passersby heard the commotion and looked up. To make the matters worse, there was a sudden gust of wind. Some of the notes landed into a canal; some landed on the branches of trees; some landed on the rooftops of private houses; some landed on the ground. To many residents and passersby, it was the day when it rained money from the sky!

At this juncture, there was a mad scramble for the new currency notes on the ground. Tempers flared as everyone was pushing and shoving towards the currency notes. Many shouted with joy as they laid their hands on these currency notes. A majority of them pocketed the money and began walking away. Their eyes glinted with greed. Meanwhile, there was two honest passersby whom managed to seize hold of some currency notes and waited patiently for the owner to claim them back. When Joyce reached the ground floor, she recovered back only a small portion of her money. She sincerely thanked the two passersby for their honesty.
