The Fury Of An Angry Housewife

One windy afternoon, a resident, Mrs. Pang, was sweeping the corridor of her Housing Board flat. Suddenly, an elderly man, John, appeared and stood to enjoy the panoramic view of the surrounding. The sight was picturesque.

Mrs. Pang was irked when he blocked her path. She could not finish the task quickly and there were more household chores for her to do. She had to prepare the evening meal, dust the furniture, mop the floor and iron the clothes. She beckoned John to move aside as she wished to sweep that part of the corridor. It was littered with sweet wrappers and papaya seeds. It looked unsightly and posed a hazard to the residents’ safety and well-being. As John had poor eyesight, he did not know that Mrs. Pang was telling him to move away. Mrs. Pang was infuriated when he did not move aside. She told him, “Excuse me, can you stand aside for a while?” John was quite deaf and her plea fell on deaf ears. She was at wits’ end.

To make matters worse, John’s young niece turned up and joined John in admiring the scenic scenery of the surrounding. They were soon engrossed in their conversation, leaving Mrs. Pang fuming with rage. It was the last straw. Mrs. Pang raised her broom and rained blows on John, sending them running away in different directions. As John was staggering away from the scene, he raised the alarm, “Help! An insane woman is on the loose! She is after me!” However there was no one in sight. Mrs. Pang gave chase and finally, caught up with him. She kept on hitting him until he passed out. It seemed that she vented her anger on him.

Mrs. Pang was later arrested for assaulting an elderly man in public.
