The Hazard Of Driving On A Rainy Night

One night, it was raining heavily. A motorist, Alan, was turning into a side road after a party. Feeling sleepy, he did not notice a stationary van which was parked at the roadside. To make matters worse, visibility was poor as heavy rain lashed the scene relentlessly. Thinking that the road was deserted at nightfall, he accelerated. He had the fright of his life when a stationary van loomed up in front of him. He took fright and acted fast. He tried to swerve to avoid it. However, it was too late. His car slammed into the parked van. A loud scream shattered the peace of this residential area. There was a deafening noise as broken glasses came crashing to the road. The car was a total wreck. Alan was groaning in pain. He was trapped in his seat, greviously injured. He suffered a large gash in his head. With blood streaming down his face, he tried painfully to wrench the door open. However, he failed miserably.

At this juncture, he became panicky and screamed for help. However, his cries fell on deaf ears as heavy rain drowned his screams. All of a sudden, his car exploded and flames engulfed it. He perished in the flames.

The next morning, residents were seen milling around the burnt-out car. Alan was burnt beyond recognition.
