The Life Of A Farmer

On a typical day, a farmer, Mr. Lim, wakes up at around dawn when the cock crows. His breakfast consisted of four slices of bread with ham and a glass of hot Milo. After breakfast, he proceeds to the coop where three hundred hens are bred. He goes about preparing animal feed for the poultry. He then goes to collect eggs, freshly laid by the hens. The eggs are of different sizes. He places them on trays. They are to be taken to market for sale.

Half an hour later, he draws water from the well. He uses the buckets of water to water the vegetables. As he passes by the vegetable plots, he takes great pains to water the vegetables. To him, it is heartening to see the vegetables grow daily. At times, he harvests them for sale in the market. His vegetables are in great demand there.

At this juncture, he goes to the open field where four cows are grazing on the rich pasture. He takes them away. He then bathes them.When the animals are dry and clean, he goes about milking them. It takes him quite some time to finish his task. As he lines the bottle of milk on a wooden table, a milkman comes to collect them. Fresh cow’s milk isin great demand in the city

His daily work only ends at eight in the evening. His livelinood is tough and he earns a meagre income. His face is weather-beaten.
