The Sight Of A Public Pond That Was Long Neglected

It was early one morning. A group of foreign tourists set foot in a public park. It was peaceful and clean. The air was cool and fresh Flowers were in full bloom. They were colourful and fragrant. The scenery was picturesque. The visitors were in high spirits as they wandered at ease in this wonderful world of nature. Insects flourished and colourful birds chirped happily. Many tourists posed beside the plants and flowers while their partners took snaps of them for souvenirs.

As they ventured further and further into the interior, tall shady trees towered over them. It was an awe-inspiring sight. Most of the trees were over a hundred years old. Soon they stumbled upon a large circular pond which was off the beaten track. It was long neglected. They were aghast at such a sight. It was unsightly with dead leaves and twigs floating on the surface of the pond. The water was polluted. Dead fished abounded. The air was filled with foul smell. Mosquitoes flourished in the stagnant water. There was no sign of life in the pond. It cast an eerie silence as they approached the pond to have a closer look.

A minute later, they retreated from the pond in alarm as mosquitoes attacked them relentlessly. They had mosquitoes bites all over their bodies. To make matter worse, files were swarming round the dead fishes. The sight really irked the foreign visitors. They left the scene in disgust.
