The Snake In A Lorry Caused A Scare

One late morning, a lorry carrying sand was travelling along a two-lane road. When it came to a stop at a traffic light junction, a busload of pupils drew up alongside it. A boy spotted something atop the heap of sand on the lorry. It was a long object. He could not figure out what it was. All of a sudden, the long object came to life. It stirred, much to the boy’s excitement and curiosity. When he took a closer look at the object,he had the fright of his life. A baby bird had fallen from a nest and into the lorry. It landed near to the snake. The snake slithered to capture its prey The snake was seen devouring the helpless baby bird. The boy shouted excitedly, “Look over there! A snake is in the lorry!”

At this juncture, all the other children turned round to try to catch a glimpse of the reptile as the lorry started to resume its journey along the road. Some pupils screamed for dear life as the snake reared its head and hissed at them. Others covered their faces with their hands fearfully. A monitor, Thomas, feared that the lorry driver’s life would be in jeopardy as he did not know the existence of a reptile in his lorry. He had to be informed at all costs. Thomas approached the bus driver and related the incident to him. The bus driver overtook the lorry and beckoned the lorry driver to stop by a side road. He sensed something amiss and parked his lorry accordingly. The bus driver yelled at him,”There is snake in your lorry! Flee for your life!” the lorry driver scrambled to safety on hearing it.
