The Traffic Lights Turned Faulty And Caused Chaos On The Road

One rainy afternoon, there was heavy traffic at a road junction. Crowded buses, timber-laden lorries, goods vans and motorcycles were bumper to bumper. Suddenly, the traffic lights turned faulty. There was chaos at the scene as motorists tried to cut the path of oncoming vehicles. Irate motorists honked incessantly to warn other road-users of their presence. Traffic slowed to a crawl as motorists inched cautiously. The likelinood of accidents loomed large in such a chaotic traffic situation as motorists grew impatient and scrambled to get out of the traffic jam.

At this juncture, the road was wet and slippery. A van carrying bales of textiles, skidded as it tried to drive round a sharp bend. The vehicle turned turtle. The driver was seriously injured as he scrambled out of the overturned vehicle. He seemed dazed and bewildered. He suffered facial and bodily injuries. His clothes were bloodstained. Two kind passersby rushed to render first aid to him. A minute later, a bespectacled motorcyclist was speeding and ran into a patch of oil. He lost control of his vehicle and was flung to the path of an oncoming bus. The bus ran over him, killing him instantly. It was a ghastly sight.

A little while later, there was a deafening noise. Anxious roadusers looked towards the direction of the commotion. What they saw really shocked them. A taxi burst into flames owing to an overheated engine. Its driver perished in the fire.

To many road-users, it was a harrowing experience to be on the road when the traffic lights turned faulty!
