The Woes Of A Bus Driver

One hot afternoon, a bus was travelling along an accident-prone road. Suddenly, it stopped abruptly to avoid colliding with a car. The motorist was at fault. He swerved into its path without giving advance signal. Many passengers were jolted and some lost their balance and were thrown forward. A boy knocked his head against a steel railing, injuring him. His head was bleeding and someone sounded the alarm, ”Bus driver, stop the bus! Someone is injured!” The bus driver, Ming, stopped his vehicle abruptly and went to investigate. On seeing a boy injured, he grabbed the first aid kit and rendered first aid to the victim. All of a sudden a loud piercing scream from the upper deck frightened the other commuters out of their wits. Two schoolgirls lost their front teeth as they slammed against each other. Their mouths were bleeding badly. Ming rushed up the staircase and discovered two schoolgirls looking very dazed. Their plight moved him to tears. He comforted them and tended to their wounds.

Meanwhile, the bus driver’s woes did not end at this stage. An elderly man was found slump against his seat. Ming tried to revive the unconscious victim. He rubbed ointment on the victim’s temple. Soon the victim regained consciousness, much to the relief of the anxious bus driver. Meanwhile, there was chaos and confusion in the bus.

To make matters worse, smoke began to emit from the bonnet of the bus, sending everyone scrambling out to safety and for dear life. Minutes later, flames engulfed it.
