Theft At A Construction Site

It was dawn. Four shadows were sighted at a construction site. They were removing tools, steel bars and equipment when a security guard, George, passed by. He was on his rounds. They lay low for fear of being detected. George took out his torch and shone it at the surrounding darkness, equipment and steel bars. They were all intact as far as he could see. He heaved a sigh of relief and began humming a tune. All of a sudden, he spotted fresh footprints on the muddy ground. He became suspicious and stopped dead in his tracks. He strained his ears and listened for any noise in the premises. His loaded revolver was close at hand. He was ready to open fire at any intruder that trespassed on the construction site. Most intruders were heavily-armed and vicious. They would not hesitate to silence anyone who dared to cross their path.

As the scene was peaceful, he shrugged his shoulders and went back to his room. Thinking that the coast was clear, the four thieves came out from their hiding place and started loading them onto a parked lorry on the road. In the midst of it, one of the thieves slipped and fell heavily to the ground. The steel bar came crashing to the ground.George was rudely awakened by the commotion and came rushing out of his room to investigate. On seeing the thieves and their getaway vehicle, he blew a police whistle and gave chase. The lorry sped off down the narrow road and George was taking pot shots at it.
