There is a Way

I have worked extremely hard for my Final-Year examinations. I have put in a lot of effort in my revision. I was quite confident that I would pass with flying colours. I have even shared my hope with my parents. My whole family waited anxiously for the results.

On the day of the announcement, I reached school well before time. As soon as the results were announced by my form teacher, Miss Tang, I received a tremendous blow. I almost fainted when I realized that I just scraped through it with such low marks for almost all the subjects. Oh! What’s wrong with it? How could I have scored only 55 marks in English? And how could I get barely 60 marks for my Mathematics? I felt cheated!

At first, I felt like crying in desperation. All my hard work and effort have gone wasted. I felt ashamed of myself.

Gradually, my anger and shame gave way to a dull acceptance of my fate. My parents tried their very best to comfort me by saying that there were many other examinations too ahead of me. What could not be cured must be endured. Back to school, my teacher also put her hands on my shoulders and advised me not to give up easily. She stressed that ‘There is a will, there is a way.
