Two Burly Men Took Pity On Five Helpless Baby Birds

One bright morning, two burly men in their 30’s were wandering round a hilly countryside. Vegetation was non-existent. Moments later, they stumbled upon a huge cave. Out of curiosity, they ventured into it. Except for a dim pool of daylight that illuminated the cave floor, the place was quite dark. They treaded cautiously down the slippery slope of the cave. A foul smell greeted them. It soon proved unbearable for them. They moved on and towards the interior of the cave.

All of a sudden, they heard baby birds chirping incessantly above them. One of them, Patrick, took out a torch and shone at them. He strained his eyes and spotted five baby birds waiting impatiently for their mother. They were obviously hungry. Patrick scratched his head and wondered where their mother bird was. At this juncture, he stepped on something. He shone at it and was startled to see a mother bird, cold and lifeless. Patrick’s companion, Alan, used another torch to find out where the nest was. It was perched high up in a cave crevice. Alan gestured to Patrick that he. Was going up to get that nest.

Meanwhile Alan murmured a prayer. Then, with arms outstretched, he grabbed hold of the thick bamboos and hauled himself up. The bamboos creaked and swayed but did not break. Patrick lent a helping hand by pinpointing the location of the nest with his torch. Ten minutes later, Alan brought it down safely. Not long, they left the cave with the baby birds. They fed the birds with insects and fruits and showered them with loving care.
