PSLE CONTINOUS WRITING COMPOSITIONS

It was the first day of the June holidays when my best friend, Sarah, whispered, “I know a secret, but you must promise not to tell anyone.”

My curiosity was immediately sparked. Sarah told me that she had discovered an old wooden chest hidden in her grandmother’s storeroom. Inside was a faded map and a note that mentioned a special place behind a hill near the village.

The next morning, we set off on an adventure. Following the map, we walked through grassy fields and climbed a small hill. The sun beat down on us, and I was beginning to think the map was useless. Suddenly, Sarah pointed at a large rock. Beneath it was a small metal box.

With trembling hands, we opened it. Instead of treasure, we found a bundle of old letters and photographs. The letters revealed an unexpected secret—Sarah’s great-grandfather had once helped villagers during a flood by risking his own life to rescue trapped families. He had never told anyone about his brave actions.

We hurried back and showed the letters to Sarah’s grandmother. Tears filled her eyes as she read them. She had never known about her father’s heroism.

A few weeks later, the village organised a ceremony to honour Sarah’s great-grandfather. Everyone applauded as his story was finally shared.

The secret was unexpected because it had been hidden for generations. It taught me that true heroes do not seek recognition. Sometimes, the greatest stories are waiting quietly to be discovered.
