Why I Like to Read

Reading is a rewarding habit. Not only can we improve our language skills, we can also broaden our general knowledge. It is a magical experience too as we are transported to strange places in different time zones when we read.

Since I was very young, my parents instilled the reading habit in me by providing me with books. Not many but enough to keep me interested. As a child not able to read yet, the pictures in the book filled my mind with many stories.

When I began to recognise letters and words, I began to read endlessly. I had a huge appetite for books. I read Enid Blyton’s books and most of Roald Dahl’s books. Now, I read books by Agatha Christie and Charles Dickens. I also read books on science and history. Books on dinosaurs and their extinction interest me a great deal.

Reading has helped to improve my character development. It has surely made me a better student in all ways. I am glad I have such an interest in reading.
