PRIMARY SCHOOL COMPOSITIONS (UPPER PRIMARY)

Bright lights shone across the clear, blue sky. I was coming home from school eager to tell my mother about the good pews that I had scored very well in my examinations. As I was reaching home, I saw an ambulance right in front of my block Two attendants were bringing out my neighbour, Ahmad on a stretcher.
I calmed myself down after a while. I ran to my neighbour’s house and knocked on the door. “Hello! Anyone inside?” Realizing that there was no one at home, I decided to call Ahmad’s father at his company. A man answered my call, “Hello! This is the ‘Step By Step’ company. May I know whom you want to speak to?” I replied in an urgent tone, “Please inform Mr Rashid that his son, Ahmad, has met with an accident.” The man replied in a shocked tone, “Sure! I’ll tell him right now!” Then he hung up the phone.
In a few minutes, Mr Rashid was back. He inquired one of his neighbours what had happened to his son. The neighbour said worriedly, “He met with an accident!” Tears trickled down Mr Rashid’s cheeks. Ahmad’s mother was informed too. Both of them rushed to the hospital at once.
After waiting for a few hours outside the emergency room, the doctor came out sighing,”Your son is in a critical condition, but he should pull through.”
Mr and Mrs Rashid almost collapsed. Mrs Rashid sobbed bitterly. “He is our only son! He mustn’t die!” She sat down and prayed.
After a few days, Ahmad was still unconscious. His parents had lost their appetite and had not slept well almost every night. They sat by Ahmad’s side. I sometimes went to the hospital after school. I prayed hard too that Ahmad would regain his consciousness as soon as possible.
As if God had answered our prayers, on the fifth day,Ahmad woke up. His mother quickly alerted the nurses. Soon, the doctor rushed in. Ahmad was still too weak to move or talk The doctor examined him and said, “Ahmad’s will-power to live has made him stay alive.” Mr Rashid then managed a faint smile on his face and nodded.
