I could not see very well so I held it against the light and looked at it again. There were some odd markings on the manuscript. I read it out as best as I could. Then I felt cold all over. I thought it was a draft and went to close the window. When I returned to my desk, I got a shock. Sitting at my desk was a little man about the size of a child. “You called me?” he said. I was amazed. “Who are you and what do you want?” I asked.

“I am George and you just summoned me,” he said. “You read the spell didn’t you?” I swallowed. ”What can I do for you? I will do anything as long as it is evil. I have no time to do good,” he said. I explained that I was not interested to do evil to anyone. He explained that I had no choice. He could only destroy things. If I did not give him a mission, he would destroy me. He had supernatural powers he said and I believed him. I sat down and thought deeply at the mess I had put myself in. He got up to leave and told me that he would be back the next evening. Then he disappeared right in front of me.

I sat up the whole night thinking about it. Next morning I was still awake. I got up and tuned on the radio. The news was depressing. War was imminent between the two major powers on earth. It looked like the end of the world if it happened. I smiled. I had an idea.

That night when the imp turned up I had a mission for him. “Look,” I said, if you want to destroy, go and destroy all the weapons in the world. In that way you will make everyone poor.” I looked at him hoping that he would not see through my plan. He got up to go. “Consider it done and call me again if you want to destroy anything,” he said. I nodded. Next second, he was gone. I went to bed peacefully.
