Write a story entitied ‘Brave as a lion’

Sir Edward was a brave man. He was as brave as he was gentle. All the ladies in the court had an eye on him, but he remained a bachelor for a long time. He was devoted to caring for his mother. Then one day, he became engaged to Lady Susan. Everyone was happy. They all thought it was a good match. Lady Susan was the most beautiful lady in the kingdom and Sir Edward the bravest. Now he was seen everyday with Lady Susan on his arm. She herself was proud to own him and became a little stuck up. Her friends began to notice that she was a little proud nowadays. Wedding plans were going on.

One day when she was walking with Sir Edward they came upon a pit with a few lions in it. The ladies and gentlemen gathered around to look at the animals, It was. Here that Lady Susan decided to test her man and to show off to her friends. ‘Accidentally’ she dropped her fan into the pit of lions. Then she looked vainly at her friends. It was clearly a challenge for Sir Edward to prove his bravery. Without a word, Sir Edward leapt into the pit and, before the lions could decide what to do, grabbed the fan and leapt out of the pit. He bowed low and gave the fan to Lady Susan, who was proud indeed. The crowd of ladies and gentlemen clapped. Then Sir Edward made an announcement. He looked at Lady Susan sadly and said, “I am breaking my engagement with you from this minute.” The crowd looked at him, stunned and so did Lady Susan. “Anyone who can risk my life just to prove her vanity, cannot love me enough. ”After saying that he turned and walked away sadly.
