Write a story which begins “I looked around me, I was all alone...’

I looked around me, I was all alone. I recognised the terrain instantly. I was on the planet Kitaro. This was a new experience for me. I had been left here by my crew. They had mutinied. I knew nothing about the planet except that I had seen it on maps. I felt miserable and alone. I knew that I was lost and would probably die.

I looked about me again. They had been kind enough to leave me a gun. This was in case I decided to kill myself. I thought I would but then a noise distracted me and I turned around. I saw a being looking at me. He looked fierce and was staring at me from ten metres away. Instinctively drew my gun, aimed and fired. I missed and heard him running away. I had one more thing to contend with now — hostile aliens. I was an earth warrior and I would die fighting I promised myself.

I walked a little way and found a cave. I went in and set up home. Not knowing what to do, I sat still looking out into the dark sky. I missed home very much, and wondered if I could ever get out of Kitaro. Thinking pf this made me fall asleep. I awoke to some rustling noise. I reached for my gun and looked to the cave entrance. I heard footsteps running away. I ran out and almost fell over a tray of food. I did not know what it was and I did not care. I wolfed it down as fast as I could. Faintly I hoped that it would be poisonous and that I would die. Then it dawned upon me that the alien or aliens were friendly. I was the hostile one. After eating I stood at the entrance. I knew that I was sure to be watched. I showed the gun to whoever was looking and then threw it away.

Suddenly they rose all around me. Then they came forward. The leader approached and shook hands. Then he showed me something which made me really happy. It was an ancient radio transmitter. It was old, but still good enough to signal earth. I reached out and embraced my friends one by one. I am sure they were wondering why I was in tears. Perhaps they would have understood that earthlings cried when they were happy too.
