Write about your experience at a party you attended.

That was some party I attended last year on New Year’s Eve. It started late for one thing. Being the punctual type I arrived at Gabriel’s house at 7:00 pm sharp and he was taking a shower and no one had arrived yet. “Make yourself at home,” said the man and I did. The guests began arriving at about 8:00. Then Gabriel started to play his records. We were supposed to dance, I think except that there were not enough ladies. I stepped out into the corridor to look at the Stars. It was ok as I did not really like to dance.

What really disappointed me was that as the host, Gabriel did nothing to liven up the party. Perhaps he thought that we would all amuse ourselves. That would have happened if we knew each other. But it turned out that most of us were strangers. He piled surprise after surprise on us as the night wore on and bored on. Then came meal time and he sang out, ”Come and get it.” I waited a while and let the others eat first. That turned out to be a big mistake. When I reached the table, only vegetables were left. The others had scoffed the lot.

I was hungry, so I did what any red blooded son of Singapore would have done. I sneaked out and went to Macdonald’s downstairs for a burger. I took about an hour and when I returned realised that no one had missed me. I looked around and saw a few guys telling stupid jokes and others pretending to laugh at them. I decided that I had enough and went home. Some party!
