‘The museum is a place where they keep dead things for people to see. ‘ That is what I used to say bout the museum. I had last been to the museum when I was in primary school and had not at all been impressed — mainly because I did not know. Enough at the time to appreciate it. Recently, when I went here, I found that not only was I able to appreciate the museum more, there really is a lot of improvement done to the place.

The place is organised systematically and such that the visitor can begin by turning to one of the wings and slowly emerge at the other. When you finish, you would have seen everything that you wanted to A trip to the museum is a trip back in time. There are many artifacts there which have been carefully preserved for all future generations. Every attempt is being made to preserve our past — glorious or otherwise.

Old photographs are everywhere, displaying what the country looked like a couple of hundred years ago. The photographs show the dresses the people wore at the time and the jewelry they adorned themselves with. Indeed if we are willing to suspend disbelief for a while we will be transported back in time. The weapon room shows the krises that were used by the Malay rulers and warriors, there are ancient cannons which had been used by the pirates which infested the waters in the region. Then it comes to the recent times, the colonial era where a new set of weapon was used. It is possible to go through era after era as we go from room to room.

Indeed a place to wonder, that is what the museum is. With it dedicated to preserving the past. So dedicatedly, we can be sure that the history of the tepublic will be remembered by the future generations.
