Duties Of A Policeman

It is amazing how we take so many people for granted. In order that we may carry on our lives with minimum danger and interruption and with maximum pleasure, there are so many government officers out there working their guts out. Many of them are unsung heroes and it is a shame that many of us do not appreciate what they do. One particular person that we all owe a great debt to is the humble police officer.

It is because he is on duty throughout the land and acts as a tower of strength against all criminals that we are able to enjoy all those beautiful things in life. When are securely in our homes, or in public places we are able to enjoy freedom from harassment by criminal elements only because there are police officers on duty 24 hours a day, every day of the week to make sure that we will be left in peace.

Strange as it may seem, in spite of being so vital to our happiness, the police officer remains an obscure person. He is not loud in his claim to importance. In fact it is only when a crime has occurred that we remember him. When everything is well, we do not usually think that he is there. But he is, ever watchful and caring.

It is especially to our Singapore Police Force that we must pay credit when we see that they are close to the people. In some countries of the world policemen are aloof from society and are often bullies. We are fortunate that here they are our friends and moreover go out of their ways to cultivate the friendships of the people they take care of. It is also to their credit that they are quick to apprehend offenders and bring them to book. The speed at which our police solve their cases is another thing that we should appreciate them for.

We are always aware that the guardians of the law are on our side and it is our duty as citizens to show our appreciation to them at all times.
